Children must be encouraged develop an interest in reading a broad range of texts, including classical and modern fiction, poems, historical texts and newspaper articles. The more widely read your child is, the more proficient him/her will become at comprehension, identifying different writing styles and recognising the different literary devices being used. This will also enable them develop their own unique creative writing style.
